Webb Simpson, Jason Dufner Early Favorites at Wyndham ChampionshipWith a lull in the sporting world this weekend, the PGA is gearing up with its final tournament before the FedEx Cup as the Wyndham Championship tees off from the Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.

Scheduled between the end of the PGA Championship and the first event of the FedEx Cup, this tournament will likely sail under the radar, but golf betting aficionados will be all over it, looking for that diamond in the rough player to emerge from the weak field of competitors.

Four of the last five winners at the Wyndham will be back, including defending champion and 2012 U.S. Open winner Webb Simpson, who's second on the PGA futures in 2012 with a 12-1 chance to win. He's barely behind Jason Dufner, whose odds are set at 11-1. Carl Pettersson, the 2008 winner, sits at 18-1, 2007 winner Brandt Snedeker is at 25-1 and 2009 champ Ryan Moore is back at 50-1.

Winning scores in the last five years have ranged from 16 to 22-under par, so the course isn't terribly challenging over a four-day period. With a purse in excess of $5 million, there is some incentive for the players to perform well. Not to mention that those who've yet to earn their way into the FedEx Cup can do so by showing well this weekend, as they try to secure their places in the top 125 of the PGA standings.

And let's face it, there's not much else going on this weekend. College football and the NFL are still a few weeks away, MLB is in the middle of its dog days and UFC 150 just took place. There was also that two-week spectacle in London you may have seen.

This won't be the most exciting tournament as far as star power goes, but you can get yourself more invested by placing some bets over at Bovada Sportsbook, where they've got your PGA betting lines, props and futures for the Wyndham Championship.
