David Wilson
was taken out of Wednesday’s game against the Cowboys about as quick as he was put in.

Wilson, selected by the G-Men in the first round of this year’s draft, fumbled on just the second carry of his NFL career, forcing head coach Tom Coughlin to bench the Virginia Tech product for the remainder of Wednesday’s season opener.

The benching wasn’t all that had fans talking after the game, though. Instead, much of the discussion centered around how hard Wilson seemingly took the whole situation. Shortly after fumbling, Wilson was approached by Coughlin, who reprimanded the young running back for his gaffe. All the while, Wilson looked visibly upset, perhaps even shedding a few tears in the process.

“It’s hard to put it behind you if that’s the last play you can remember,” Wilson told reporters after the game. “But I understand the coaches. I know I don’t have much room for error being a rookie and then to have a critical error like that, like a turnover. You live and you learn and move forward.”

Hey, no use crying over lost fumbles.
