The tragic events of 9/11 really impacted Eric Kettani, as the fullback reportedly joined the Navy in part because of what happened that day. Now, 11 years later, Kettani is heading to the nation's capital, but he'll be doing so with football on his mind.

Kettani, who played for Navy in college and spent part of 2011 on the Patriots' practice squad after receiving an early military release, will be joining the Redskins' practice squad. The Boston Herald's Jeff Howe first reported the news, and Kettani has since confirmed the news via Twitter.

Kettani was actually recalled by the Navy last season, which delayed his football career even more. The 25-year-old went undrafted in 2009, but he's still eyeing a spot on an NFL roster.
