Jacoby Ellsbury Back in Lineup as Boston Tries to Salvage Final Game of Orioles Series

Jacoby Ellsbury Back in Lineup as Boston Tries to Salvage Final Game of Orioles SeriesEditor's note: The temperature gauge is a Bill James-created statistic that measures how hot or cold hitters are. We will spotlight Red Sox and opposing team temperatures on game days.

Jacoby Ellsbury will lead off and play center field for the Red Sox in Sunday afternoon's matchup against the Orioles, a good addition for a Boston lineup that has cooled off as of late.

Ellsbury returned to the lineup  Saturday after missing six games with a "little situation" and scored one of Boston's three runs in the 4-3 loss. He has been one of Boston's hottest hitters in the month of September, batting .306 with two home runs and 10 RBIs.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia, who hit his 25th home run of the year Saturday, will start the game on the bench as Ryan Lavarnway gets the nod behind home plate. Lavarnway went hitless Saturday and is 2-for-24 in his last seven games.

Pacific Coast League MVP Mauro Gomez will bat cleanup and play first for the Red Sox. He did not have a hit but scored a run against the O's on Saturday.

The Orioles will have the scorching hot Chris Davis batting third for them as they try to take sole possession of first place in the American League East with a win and a Yankees loss. Davis hit a monster home run off of Felix Doubront on Saturday for his 30th of the year. He has now homered in each of the last three games for Baltimore.
