Jason Terry is a veteran of the game, from knowing how to play to what words to say as he gets ready to take the court with a new team.
Terry broke out the bravado again this week, saying he already has his eyes set on two perennial Boston Celtics targets: the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers.
"My mission is to kill," Terry said at the Celtics' annual golf tournament, according to ESPNBoston.com "Whoever that is, whether it's the Heat, whether it's the Lakers — hopefully both. That's my mission, and that's what I'm here to do."
The sharp-shooting Terry has had his eyes set on a championship since the moment he signed with the Celtics, and he even added some permanent ink to back up his goal. He joins a Boston roster that is reloading for another hurrah with Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce while offering a new era in the backcourt, with Terry and Courtney Lee joining Rajon Rondo and Avery Bradley now that Ray Allen has departed for the Heat.
Terry was team-oriented as he talked about the upcoming Celtics season, saying he was excited to play for coach Doc Rivers and that he was willing to do whatever was needed. But he was sure to also include the words that are all but a requirement for new players joining the C's these days.
"I'm very excited — obviously another opportunity to win a championship," he said. "That's what it's all about. There's no other motive here but to go out there and win, and win it all."
A company man — and one who is apparently ready to kill.
