President Barack Obama Plays Favorites, Says He Is 'Looking Forward' to White Sox-Nationals World SeriesPresident Barack Obama is a well-known White Sox fan, but having lived in D.C. since 2005, he appears to have gained a bit of a Natitude.

The First Fan made his World Series prediction to a crowd gathered at a rally in Woodbridge, Va. on Friday, and went with both of his hometown favorites.

“I want to congratulate the Washington Nationals for bringing playoff
baseball to D.C.,” Obama said. “You guys are looking good. I am looking
forward to a White Sox-Nationals World Series.

“White Sox are still in first place,” the President continued to a crowd of likely Nats fans, “but
I got to admit, you guys are looking a little better right now. You
guys are looking very good.”

The Nationals clinched Washington, D.C.’s first playoff berth since 1933 on Thursday night, but are still very much a question mark in the race without Stephen Strasburg. The White Sox, on the other hand, are fighting for their lives against the surging Tigers in the AL Central. Still, Obama is staying positive.

“It’s going to happen,” he declared.

Making picks is something that the President has done quite successfully in the past, judging by his men’s and women’s NCAA Tournament brackets. But this prediction might be his most controversial one yet, because neither of those two teams would be the presumptive favorites to make a deep run into October.

Then again, there certainly would have been some irony if the President had picked, say, Texas to make it to the Fall Classic. Making such a safe prediction would have been … conservative of him.
