Red Sox Hosting Celebration of Johnny Pesky's Life at Fenway Park on Sept. 23The impact Johnny Pesky had on the Red Sox for 70 years of his life is something that the organization has never let go unnoticed. Now the team is ready to rejoice in the life and accomplishments of a true Red Sox lifer and are inviting the fans to join them.

The Red Sox will be hosting a "Celebration of Life" tribute for the late Boston icon following their Sept. 23 game against the Baltimore Orioles. All fans are invited to join in the celebration and Fenway Park will be open to the public at no cost and those in attendance for the 1:35 p.m. game may either remain in the park or reenter when the ceremonies begin at 6 p.m.

The formal part of the ceremony will take place between 6-7 p.m. when current and former Red Sox players will be sharing stories about Pesky and all he has done for them and the organization. Following the formal section, those in attendance are invited to walk around the warning track and see displays that honor Pesky for all of his contributions.

These displays will include his roles as player, coach, manager, broadcaster, father, husband, friend and of course, ambassador of Red Sox Nation. Fans will be given an opportunity to leave personal messages for his family which will be given to them and made a part of the Nation's Archives at Fenway Park.

Those in attendance are welcome to stay at the park until it closes at 9 p.m.
