Former major leaguer and seven-time Cy Young winner Roger Clemens pitched 4 2/3 scoreless innings in his second start for the Sugarland Skeeters on Friday.
The 50-year-old Clemens was awarded the win for his performance, and some think he may be ready to pitch a few innings for his hometown Houston Astros this season.
Astros scouts were at the game Friday to take a look at Clemens, but the former ace said he doesn't see himself making a comeback this year, ESPN.com reports.
"At this point, I don't see that happenining, because I just know my recovery time right now. And I think I've pushed my body and my shoulder to where it needs to be," Clemens said.
Clemens may not have the gas he used to throw, but the legend still has what it takes to get guys out. His fastball topped out at 88 mph, and he used his slider, splitter and curveball to retire 14 batters.
Doing the catching for the Rocket was Clemens' 25-year-old son, Koby.
Before making his first start for the Skeeters on Aug. 20, Clemens was in court for a 10-week trial that ended with him being acquitted on June 19 of two counts of perjury, three counts of making false statements and one count of obstructing Congress. Those charges came as a result of his former trainer, Brian McNamee, claiming Clemens used steroids and HGH during his playing days.
