Tim Tebow
dominates headlines so regularly that the New York Jets sometimes seem to be but a distant thought. That’s exactly what happened following Week 1 of the new season, at least according to NFL.com.

The NFL website produced its weekly power rankings, placing each team in a position from 1-32 throughout the league. Following a blowout 48-28 victory over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, the Jets expected to see a sizable jump up from their preseason No. 19 ranking. Yet when the rankings were revealed, the “New York Jets” were nowhere to be found.

In place of the Jets’ name on the list resided a simple five-letter word, “Tebow,” which seems to indicate where the attention was really focused. Tebow’s name appeared in green and beside the Jets logo at the No. 13 position on the list. While Rex Ryan and the Jets would likely be pleased with the six-spot bump in position, the onus on their backup quarterback probably won’t sit well with Mark Sanchez.

Sanchez was stellar in the Week 1 victory, completing 19 of 27 passes for 266 yards and a trio of touchdown passes, while Tebow didn’t even attempt a pass and rushed for just 11 yards. Yet the focus is apparently still on the polarizing QB.

Can Sanchez do anything to beat this guy?
