Barry Sanders is a Detroit legend, but with a World Series win, Justin Verlander might not be too far behind the Hall of Fame running back on the list of the city's greats. That's what makes Thursday night's Twitter conversation so awesome.
Shortly after Verlander's Tigers completed their sweep of the Yankees to punch their ticket to the World Series, Sanders sent out a tweet stating how proud he was of the team and expressing a desire to attend a World Series game. It didn't take long for Verlander to extend a generous offer to the former Lions star.
The conversation can be seen below.
Not only is it pretty cool to see two superstars from differents sports and different eras conversing on social media — thus showing the power of the Interweb — but Verlander can certainly draw some serious inspiration from the chat. Sanders' Lions never made it to the Super Bowl, and Verlander is now playing in his second World Series. You can bet, per Sanders' advice, the Tigers ace will be cherishing every moment.
My biggest concern, however, is Sanders' kids being a little scared of mascots. We've got to get them over that fear and out to the ballpark, Barry.
