Igor Makarov Leaves Skates to Take Down Zdeno Chara in Big KHL Collision (Video)

October 11, 2012

Not many people can take down Zdeno Chara, so when they try, it tends to be very entertaining.

In a KHL game between HC Lev Praha and SKA Saint Petersburg, the 6-foot-9 Slovakian received his official welcome to Russia?s national league. Igor Makarov, a forward for SKA, left his skates and nearly caught Chara off guard at full speed in the hopes that he would put the Bruin captain on his back.

But even with his best effort, Makarov was only able knock the big fella back and to his knees. Even better, the Russian forward ended up face planting behind the goal.

Unfortunately it looks like Chara will be spending more time in Russia as NHL labor negotiations continue, but at least he’s doing his best to keep Boston fans entertained. To see the Makarov?s best effort check out the video below.
