Mark Gastineau Gives Strange Halftime Speech at Jets Game, During Which He Sounds Drunk (Audio)

Mark Gastineau turned in plenty of big games during his NFL career, but his performance on Monday trumps them all.

Gastineau, who was inducted into the Jets’ Ring of Honor at halftime on Monday night, delivered a riveting speech to the hometown crowd. And by riveting, I mean sloppy, wacky and hilarious.

In what can only be described as a drunken diatribe, Gastineau slurred his way into Internet stardom, as his speech gave Joe Namath‘s infamous Suzy Kolber creep session a run for its money. Unfortunately — or fortunately for Gastineau — the rousing oration didn’t get the TV time it deserved, but the audio has since surfaced.

Gastineau called out Jets fans for booing Mark Sanchez and the Jets as they struggled against the Houston Texans, and he sounded every bit as drunk as he was passionate. From his emphasis on the word “fannnn,” to his elongated “New Yooorrrk Jets,” and everything in between, Gastineau had fans wondering what exactly was going on.

Then, as if the speech wasn’t awesome enough, Gastineau threw the cherry on top of the verbal sundae.

“Hallelujah,” he shouted from the rooftops.

Have a listen to the mumbles in the audio below.
