After the Eagles couldn't topple the undefeated Falcons, Michael Vick seemed to accept his fate that he may not be Philadelphia's starting quarterback much longer.
Vick told Reuben Frank of CSNPhilly after Sunday's loss that Andy Reid is thinking about replacing the Eagles' three-year starter at quarterback.
"Obviously, he's thinking about making a change at quarterback," said Vick. "If he makes that decision, I support it."
Vick has had a brutal season at the helm of the Eagles. He's fumbled the ball nine times and thrown eight interceptions in seven games. The Eagles are 3-4 on the season and Philadelphia fans are getting impatient with their quarterback and coach.
Vick may understand that he could be replaced by rookie Nick Foles — who shined during the preseason — but he told Frank he's not giving up on the role just yet.
"It’s tough when you know everything is up in the balance, but that’s
the decision that coach is thinking about making, and I’m going to fight
until he says, 'Come on out,' and he takes me out of the game," said Vick.
Reid may be stuck between a rock and a hard place. The best thing for the team's future may be starting Foles, but Vick may give the team a better chance to win — and for the head coach to keep his job. The Eagles' schedule remains tough down the stretch, and if the team keeps losing under Vick, it would be wise to turn to Foles.
