With the scheduled opening week of the NHL season already lost, both the NHL and its Players Association are doing something neither side wants to do: cancel regular season games.
As the league looks to end its second lockout in eight years, both sides have agreed to meet on Tuesday to continue talks about secondary issues. No further discussions about the core economic issues that remain the biggest difference between the owners and players are scheduled — but at least they're talking.
