Radamel Falcao Happy to Stay at Atletico Madrid and Silence DoubtersAtletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao was interviewed by Spanish daily Marca and talked about his sweet moment with the "Colchonero" club.

The Colombian star is enjoying his best moment with Atletico, which makes him one of the best players in the world right now.

When asked about how he felt about being an idol in such a short time, Falcao said he felt proud and understood people may have doubted him at some point.

"I feel very proud. I am aware that there were people who doubted me. They were not convinced of what was paid. I came from Portuguese soccer. The critics were normal, the team was not good and it was logical, but the important thing is that we reversed the situation both the team and me."

Falcao also accepted that at some point, it looked like he was going to leave Atletico during the summer after the declarations made by the club's executives.

"Yes I thought I could leave because of what it was said in the club, that it would be difficult for me to continue if the team didn't make it to the [UEFA] Champions League. The future was uncertain because of the economic issue, but the team did a great effort and kept most of its squad. That speaks highly of how Atlético's leaders are doing."

Having not won the Madrid derby, Falcao expressed a desire to beat Real Madrid more than any other club.

"We want to beat Madrid. It's our traditional rival and we want to win. We have more desire to beat Madrid than any other club, but the mentality will not change," said the striker.

Having finished third in the Ballon d'Or award, Falcao is now being considered for the yearly awards, and he doesn't hide his desire to win it one day.

"All players dream of winning the Golden Ball. Being realistic I'm reaching a better level every time and have achieved important things at the European level. If I keep with that level, I hope one day I have the chance to win the Golden Ball."
