Robert Griffin III has re-energized the Redskins offense and fan base
in 2012, but his risk-taking style of play already knocked him out of a
game with a concussion and the Redskins don't plan on taking that away.
Despite losing his young quarterback for much of last week's loss to the Falcons, offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan doesn't believe the offense needs changing.
"If I went into a game thinking I had to call a different game because,
if he got hit, he's going to be hurt, then he shouldn't be playing," said Shanahan on Thursday. "If he's cleared, he's cleared, he's okay. That's my
assumption."
Shanahan cited his belief that Griffin and the medical staff would not rush him back from an injury — especially a concussion — and that a 100 percent healthy Griffin should get a 100 percent normal gameplan.
The concussion was the first of Griffin's young career. The No. 2 pick in the 2012 NFL draft took a big hit when he attempted to scramble out of the pocket on the Falcons' three-yard line.
Griffin was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, but is expected to play on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.
