The Red Sox managerial search is beginning to pick up some steam.
Brad Ausmus is the latest candidate to have an interview planned, according to The Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo.
Ausmus, a former catcher who played for four teams during a 18-year major league career, has been serving as a special assistant to the San Diego Padres since his retirement. The 43-year-old does not have any professional managing experience, but did serve as the skipper for Israel's team during World Baseball Classic qualifying.
Ausmus previously turned down a chance to interview for the Astros, but Cafardo notes that he previously had expressed interest in the Red Sox job.
The Red Sox are also expected to interview Dodgers third base coach Tim Wallach for their managerial opening. The team parted ways with Bobby Valentine last week after he finished his first season 69-93.
