Venezuelan Soccer Fans Storm Field in Protest of Pink Breast Cancer Awareness JerseysWe don't know if Wiz Khalifa had anything to do with this, but fans of Venezuelan soccer club Deportivo Tachira have no interest in swapping black and yellow for pink … not even for a good cause, not even for just one day.

Tachira fans stormed the field in protest of their club's decision to wear pink jerseys in support of breast cancer awareness on Sunday, the Telegraph reports.

They stayed on the field at Pueblo Nuevo Stadium for 40 minutes, chanting and waving their traditional black-and-yellow-striped jerseys until the game was finally called off. This was before a ball was even kicked.

Their furious reaction came as Tachira's players took the field wearing special pink jerseys. They were holding a banner supporting the breast cancer awareness organization Senos Ayuda, but that couldn't stop the traditionalists — some of whom may have been Khalifa fans as well.

The Venezuelan Football Federation has not decided whether to reschedule the game or award three points to visiting Atletico Venezuela.

Deportivo representatives refused to condemn the actions of a passionate few, instead vowing to investigate the incident and offering refunds to paying fans.

"At a press conference, Deportivo Tachira president Juana Suarez blamed a 'tiny number of fans' defending 'the colours of the shirt they love,'" the report says.

"Club captain Andrew Rouga apologised and added: 'As players we want to congratulate the institution, which remained strong at all times, supporting this worthy cause.'"

Many sports teams in many countries have gotten behind the breast cancer initiative, and their fans have generally supported the cause as well. Tachira fans will go down in history as the group that wouldn't — regardless of their motivation.
