Bart Scott is kind of an insufferable human being, and he was reportedly doing more insufferable things on Sunday afternoon after the New York Jets actually won a game.
Following a tumultuous week with more media distractions — thanks to an unnamed ripping of Tim Tebow in the New York Daily News — the Jets came out and dominated the St. Louis Rams on Sunday afternoon. One would think that following a whupping, the loud-mouth Jets — especially the gum-flapping Scott — would love to discuss how amazing they are with the media.
Apparently, that wasn’t the case however.
Scott channeled his inner-Gandhi and attempted to lead a media boycott following the game. The New York Post’s Bart Hubboch was in the locker room after the game, and he was all over Scott’s protest attempts.
Bart Scott is leading a media mutiny by the Jets defense in the locker room. This is ridiculous.

Bart Scott is ordering every Jets defensive player to say nothing but “both teams played hard.” Threatening any that don’t.

Bart Scott blaming everyone in the media for the Daily News story.

You have to absolutely love the fact that a member of the Jets defense — the same defense that went off the record to rip the backup quarterback — is blaming somebody else for the fact that the Jets are a circus. In fact, there are even those (former Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson among them) who think that Scott may have actually been one of the unnamed sources afraid to put his name to the criticisms of the backup quarterback in the New York Daily News piece.
Anyway, Scott’s protest didn’t work out the way he planned it.
Thankfully, Yermiah Bell isn’t participating in Bart Scott’s boycott foolishness. A true pro.

Scott yells at Bryan Thomas for breaking the boycott, calling him “a MF-ing sellout.” Yeremiah Bell tells Scott: “Stop it. Just stop it.”

However, there is a chance that Scott was just joking the entire time.
Hearing from another player that Bart Scott’s “media boycott” was just a joke that didn’t go over. #Jets

In fact, the Jets linebacker eventually addressed the media, which is not the way you want your media boycott to go.
Knowing what we know about Bart Scott, though, it’s tough to believe that this was a joke, at least if we believe Hubbuch tweet-for-tweet. The “it was only a joke” thing also sounds like the exact thing you would say if your attempted media boycott blew up in your face. So there’s that.
Never underestimate the power of a good scarf.
“I’ve always wanted to date a celebrity. I’m just throwing that out there. That would be really cool, don’t you think?”

Well now that just seems excessive.
