As the calendar turns, many people look back on the year that was and try to make sense of the many highs that accompany the last 365 days.

GQ Magazine, in a spoof of the many publications that create “most influential” lists at year’s end, has instead chosen to single out those in the world of pop culture who were the least significant of the last 12 months.

Described as “a collection of people so uninspiring that we should round them all up and stick them on an iceberg,” the list includes several sports figures among its ranks, some of which are more well-known to Boston fans than others.

Former Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine makes the cut, as does Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard. Some of the other sports names on the list might be more obvious, while others might be considered a little surprising. All in all, it’s a list that many more should feel lucky not to have been featured on.
