Martellus Bennett Catches Falling Fan After Giants' Win, Credits 'Spidey Senses' for Recognizing Danger

Martellus Bennett took a big helmet-to-helmet hit on Sunday night, but it did nothing to alter his awareness.

Bennett, who finished with three catches in the Giants’ 38-10 victory over the Packers, made a fourth reception shortly after the game. The Giants tight end was apparently walking back to the locker room when he made the night’s biggest contribution, catching a fan who had fallen over a railing located 15 feet above the ground.

“Naturally, I just wanted to step back, but I did the righteous thing and I stepped up. I caught him, I saved his life, I tapped into my inner superhero, which I do have,” Bennett told reporters after the game.

“I’m usually a ninja, but my Spidey senses told me he was going to take a fall, so I saved his life,” Bennett continued. “He owes me his first-born or something. Actually I don’t want that. Maybe a sandwich or something.”

It doesn’t sound like the tumbling man — who USA Today described as “middle-aged” — is going to treat Bennett to a sandwich any time soon, though. Instead, the gentleman had bigger fish to fry after getting hauled away by New Jersey State Troopers.

Bennett noted that he himself tumbled over a cameraman during the big, postgame reception, but the fifth-year pro escaped any physical harm. However, the situation did lead to some concerned onlookers, who surely weren’t too excited about the idea of potentially losing their starting tight end.

“I felt like Prince, because everybody was like, ‘You OK? You OK?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m fine.’ They were helping me up,” Bennett said.

Bennett’s Giants will next take on the Redskins in Washington.
