There’s not a whole lot for NHL organizations to do during the lockout, so teams have to get creative in attempts to stay busy and promote their brand. Perhaps nobody has done a better job of that so far than the Nashville Predators.
The Preds pulled the top lockout stunt recently, when they brought some members of the organization to a youth hockey game to surprise the kids. And by “brought some members of the organization,” we mean they brought the mascot, cheerleaders, PA announcer, pep band, TV teams and even head coach Barry Trotz to the local rink. They also brought plenty of fans.
The Predators then pulled off what they called a “Smash Mob.” They gave the lucky youngsters the chance to feel like they were playing in the NHL for at least one day.
