About eight days ago, things looked (relatively) good for the NHL season.

Negotiations between the owners and the players’ association looked to be moving along healthily, and the fear of a season being lost subsided momentarily. Then those talks broke down because of an unwillingness to budge on certain core issues by both sides. And again, the season hangs in the balance.
