The Bruins had already survived one Game 7, against the Canadiens in the first round of the 2011 playoffs. So as the B’s prepared for a second winner-take-all game, this time against the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Eastern Conference finals, fans should have been prepared to strap in for another roller-coaster ride.

If only it was that easy.

The game between the Bruins and Lightning was everything hockey fans could have hoped for, as things remained scoreless — and penalty-less — until the game’s final moments. Both teams fought frantically for the slimmest of edges, as Tim Thomas and Dwayne Roloson pitched shutouts deep into the night, each hoping to extend his team’s season.

Ultimately, the Bruins prevailed thanks to one of the prettiest goals you will ever see, as Nathan Horton propelled the Bruins on to the Stanley Cup Final.

Bruins head coach Claude Julien will join Dale Arnold in the NESN studios Tuesday to break down the action, so tune in to NESN at 8 p.m. to relive the instant classic. Also, be sure to join the conversation on social media by using the #Bruins2011 hashtag during the broadcast, and keep an eye out for more upcoming NESN broadcasts of games from the Bruins’ historic Stanley Cup run.
