The Patriots had the game well in hand when they were dealt a pretty crushing blow early Sunday evening in Foxboro.

With the Patriots clinging to a 58-24 lead, tight end Rob Gronkowski went down with what turned out to be broken forearm while serving on the Patriots’ field goal team while going for the extra point.

The damage was pretty substantial, with Gronkowski reportedly undergoing surgery Monday morning. The All-Pro is also expected to miss anywhere from four to eight weeks with the injury, putting his status for the start of the playoffs up in the air.

The injury obviously left Patriots fans wondering “Why?” while also doing the unthinkable — questioning Bill Belichick.
