Ty Law Calls Patriots’ Defense ‘Atrocious,’ Struggles to Find Anything Positive About Unit

The current New England defense is a far cry from the unit Ty Law was a part of for 10 seasons, and the former Patriots cornerback can’t find anything to be encouraged about.

Law discussed the Pats’ defensive woes during CSNNE’s postgame coverage and was very honest in his analysis, calling out the unit after it was torched by Buffalo for 481 yards.

“The Patriots, they finished the game, they won. But overall that was not a great performance by the team. I think Buffalo outplayed them,” Law said. “Take away a few of those penalties and we would see another score right now. The Patriots’ defense is still atrocious. They are terrible. You can’t say anything good about them at this point.”

Perhaps Law is right. Despite the Patriots walking away with a 37-31 win on Sunday, the defense continues to struggle, with former New England wide receiver Troy Brown going as far as to call the unit “pitiful.” Other than the upcoming addition of cornerback Aqib Talib, there might not be a solution in sight, which certainly has some Pats fans worried.

Make no mistake, a win is a win. However, some wins are prettier than others, and Sunday’s victory was as ugly as it gets for the Patriots.
