The NFL player formerly known as Ochocinco may be out of the league now, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to curb his spending.

Former Bengals and Patriots wide receiver Chad Johnson spent $8,000 on a pair of shoes, according to TMZ. Johnson bought the Nike Mag Back to the Future II shoes from a high-end sneaker store in Miami.

Only 1,500 pairs of the shoe were made, and they were auctioned off for charity in 2011. The Michael J. Fox Foundation took in all the money from the auction, and some of the pairs went for as much as $37,500.

Johnson has been out of the NFL since August, when he was released from the Dolphins after being charged with domestic battery. Johnson played with New England in 2011 and caught 15 passes for 276 yards and one touchdown — his worst season in the NFL.

Take a look at the picture below of Johnson’s new kicks.
