Eli ManningAnother NFL Sunday, another massive shake-up in the developing playoff picture.

It wasn’t so long ago that the defending Super Bowl champion Giants looked the part, but after a 34-0 thrashing at the hands of Atlanta, New York’s future is very much up in the air. Coupled with wins by the Redskins and Cowboys, the Giants’ loss leaves New York tied for first place in the NFC East, and very possibly on the outside looking in come playoff time.

Meanwhile, the other team in last year’s Super Bowl didn’t fare too well on Sunday either. Unlike the Giants, the Patriots have at least clinched a playoff spot already. However, their road in the postseason got a heck of a lot tougher with a loss to San Francisco costing them a first-round bye (for now).

The Patriots and the Giants have a couple of games left to straighten themselves out in time to make a push for the Big Game, but their struggles are only one of many surprises from Sunday’s slate of games.
