Rex Ryan, Mike Tannenbaum, Woody JohnsonThe shake-up in New York is under way, but Jets owner Woody Johnson doesn’t appear ready to clean house entirely.

The Jets announced on Monday that Johnson has fired general manager Mike Tannenbaum, but head coach Rex Ryan will return for next season.

After a 6-10 season, it was expected that Gang Green would reshuffle, and how they plan to do that is a little clearer now. There had been discussion of keeping Tannenbaum as a salary cap consultant for the team, but obviously the team decided to go in a different direction.

The Jets are also expected to fire offensive coordinator Tony Sparano, after ranking 30th in total offense this season. There’s no word yet on the fate of quarterback Mark Sanchez, but with New York on the hook for a $13.9 million cap hit regardless, the Jets could have their hands tied.
