LeBron James Named 2012 Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year

Sports Illustrated announced on CNN on Monday morning that James has been named the 2012 Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year.

James owned the sports world in 2012, winning his first NBA title with the Miami Heat in June before adding a gold medal at the London Olympics a couple of months later for Team USA.

“I’m happy and blessed to have been part of this league and, at the same time, make an impact,” James told SI. “I hope people appreciate that.”

“I don’t think anyone, including LeBron, knows what his ceiling is,” head coach Erik Spoelstra told SI. “It’s fascinating to see when the best is still motivated to improve like he was fighting for a contract. ”
