Most Googled Female Athletes

Female athletes from all corners of the globe took the sporting world by storm this year.

Whether it was at the Summer Olympics or at grand slam tennis events, 2012 featured some top-notch performances and impressive milestones by female sports stars.

TotalProSports.com listed its top 50 most-Googled female athletes of the 2012. Thirteen of the top 30 most-Googled female athletes were tennis players, while 14 of the top 30 are American athletes.

Some notable athletes in the top 50 were gold medalist Aly Raisman (No. 33) from Needham, Mass., who drew 224,000 Google searches and Sam Gordon (No 38.),  the 9-year-old running back who drew 104,000 Google searches this year.

Last year’s most-Googled female athlete, Serena Williams, cracked the Top 5 this year, as it was a British track star to capture the No. 1 ranking.
