Rajon Rondo took a siesta while he served out his two-game suspension.

The Celtics’ point guard spoke to reporters on Tuesday — after declining to speak to them on Monday — and claimed that he went to Mexico last weekend while his teammates hosted the Portland Trail Blazers and traveled to Milwaukee to play the Bucks. Rondo appeared to be fighting back a smile as he said it, so he was most likely joking, but he certainly sold it well.

“Yeah, why not?” Rondo said. “A couple days off, allow my body to get a chance to rest.”

On a more serious note, Rondo said he did not learn any lessons from the suspension for his altercation with Kris Humphries last week. He also insisted that he did not care about the end of his double-digit assist streak, which died after he tied John Stockton for the second-longest streak ever at 37 games.
