Report: Braylon Edwards Could Return to Jets One Week After Blasting Front Office

Braylon EdwardsThis is just so Jets.

New York is contemplating bringing back their former wide receiver Braylon Edwards, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Edwards accumulated 1,445 yards and 11 touchdowns in his 28 games with New York in 2009 and 2010.

Edwards recently blasted the Jets‘ front office on Twitter by way of supporting his former quarterback Mark Sanchez.

“Don’t blame Sanchez. I played there,” Edwards tweeted. “Blame the idiots calling shots. Mark is a beast and will prove it when given a proper chance.”

Edwards did apologize for the comment the next day, but you’d think the damage was done. Well, not with the Jets. Nothing is out of bounds for Rex Ryan, Mike Tannenbaum and Woody Johnson.

After losing Stephen Hill to a sprained knee, the Jets have just Clyde Gates, Mardy Gilyard, Jeremy Kerley, Chaz Schilens and Jordan White left in its wide receiver corps. The team wouldn’t even match the one-year $1 million offer the 49ers made Edwards in 2011, and they weren’t interested in him when the Seahawks brought him in this offseason.

If Edwards does sign with the Jets, he could be their No. 1 receiver as they try to make a playoff push at 6-7.
