Cody RossThe Yankees might be earning headlines for their recent infield problems, but what has snuck in under the radar is New York’s need to shore up its outfield as well.

Cody Ross andĀ Scott Hairston might change that, according to FOX Sports’ Jon Morosi, who says the Bronx Bombers are interested in the two as right-handed hitting outfield options.

While the Yankees are seemingly set with their starting outfield thanks to Ichiro Suzuki,Ā Curtis Granderson and Brett Gardner, Ross or Hairston would be able to provide a platoon option as the Yankees face a future that could be without switch-hittingĀ Nick Swisher.

Ross sent out a cryptic tweet on Monday afternoon shortly before news of New York’s interest broke … might he be reacting to the thought of playing in pinstripes?
