Ichiro Suzuki‘s pursuit of 3,000 MLB hits will resume in the Bronx.
Suzuki has reportedly agreed to a deal to stay with the Yankees, with the only detail remaining whether it will be a one- or two-year contract.

Suzuki came to New York midway through last season after spending his entire MLB career in Seattle. He was a boost to the Yankees down the stretch, batting .322 with five home runs and 27 RBIs in the 67 games he played in New York.
He was also one of the few Yankees who performed well in the postseason. In Suzuki’s first trip to the playoffs since 2001, he batted .275 and had perhaps the best run scored ever seen.
Suzuki has 2,606 career hits in Major League Baseball, putting him just a couple of seasons away from breaking the hallowed 3,000-hit barrier if he can produce numbers similar to his yearly totals throughout his career. He played nearly a decade in Japan before joining the Mariners in 2001, when he won both Rookie of the Year and MVP in his first season in MLB.
