Report: Red Sox, Mets Discuss Trade for Cy Young Winner R.A. Dickey

The Red Sox will be discussing many trade ideas while at the winter meetings. Most of these discussions will just be tantamount to kicking the tires and won’t amount to anything, but there’s always the chance for something big to happen.

With that disclaimer in mind, apparently the Red Sox have talked to the New York Mets about 2012 National League Cy Young winner R.A. Dickey. The knuckleballer is known to have a close relationship with Boston alum Tim Wakefield, so a potential deal makes sense in that respect.

However, don’t necessarily count on this one going through. According to ESPN Boston, the Mets would be asking for Jackie Bradley, Jr. and Xander Bogaerts — two of the Red Sox’ top prospects — in exchange for the 38-year-old.
