Rory McIlroy Denies Engagement Rumors Despite Giant Diamond Ring on Caroline Wozniacki’s Finger

Caroline Wozniacki had two accessories with her as she arrived down under this week for the upcoming Australian Open, and both would suggest that wedding bells are in the future for the tennis pro.

Boyfriend Rory McIlroy is along with Wozniacki for the trip, and Wozniacki was wearing a pretty large sapphire- and diamond-encrusted ring on her left hand Friday, according to reports.

But stop right there — that doesn’t suggest an engagement, the pair says.

While neither Wozniacki nor McIlroy have explained the presence of the ring, Wozniacki was wearing it on her left hand, whereas the Danish tradition is to wear engagement and wedding rings on the right hand. Since a certain holiday happened just this past week, it’s not a stretch to think that the ring may in fact be a gift from McIlroy — but wouldn’t necessarily be the engagement type.

The pair hasn’t been shy about their interest in each other, or their admiration for each other’s games. It just turns out that this time, that’s not leading to imminent wedding invites — or so they say.

“We got to keep working at this. This is when you start to see who’s with you. This is when you see who really wants it, who really wants to get down and work and grind for it, and we’re about to find that out.”

As the play-by-play man says, “You can just watch this one for yourself.” So many fights! On the bench! Goalies fighting! Gloves everywhere! The “good grief” count went pretty high in this one.
