Adrian Peterson Taunted by Green Bay Bar With Banner Saying ‘This Is What Nine Yards Look Like’ (Photo)

Let’s review the situation.

Green Bay and Minnesota are division rivals and have been for some time. Packers fans and Vikings fans don’t get along. The two teams split their meetings this year, with both sides winning at home. Now they are playing each other again in the wild card round of the NFC playoffs, with the feel-good story of the surgically repaired Adrian Peterson looking to take down the 2011 Super Bowl-winner Packers.

Also, we should note, Peterson compiled 2,097 yards rushing this year, the second-highest total in the history of the NFL.

All set? OK, so rather than just invite the Vikings in for some frigid-weather football, some Green Bay fans have decided to tease Minnesota. A bar in Wisconsin has apparently hung up a poster that is presumably 27 feet long. Its message? “Hey Adrian — this is what nine yards looks like.”

Ah, very cute. We see what you’re doing there — making fun of the fact that Peterson missed the all-time single-season rushing record by just nine yards.

But again, let’s review. Peterson had 2,097 rushing yards this season. And he had about 20 percent of them — 409 — against the Packers (199 in last week’s game, and 210 the other time he faced them). Oh, and Minnesota beat Green Bay last week, spoiling the Packers’ chance at a first-round bye. These things can happen again.

But anyway, someone in Green Bay thought it was a great idea to remind Peterson that, although he managed to rush for more than 2,000 yards less than a year after he mangled his knee and needed surgery, he still came up a little short when he was trying to help his team win.

Vikings fans can be pretty fierce, we hear. Just sayin’.
