Anton Khudobin Likely Starting Against Carolina, Hoping to Replicate His First Start With Bruins (Video)

Anton Khudobin is likely to make his first start of the season for the Bruins on Monday night in Carolina, and if he can continue to do anything like he did in his first start with the B’s last year, Boston could be looking at one of the game’s best backups.

That’s a pretty bold claim, of course, but Khudobin did show flashes of brilliance in his first start with the Bruins last season after coming over in a trade with Minnesota in 2011. Khudobin made that one start with the B’s on April 5 of last year against the Ottawa Senators.

He was simply phenomenal, too, being tested early and often by the Sens. Khudobin turned away 44 of the 45 shots he faced to help the B’s to the win, as the club picked up point No. 100 on the season. Khudobin was peppered with shots from the get-go, using a bevy of kick saves to pick up the win. That wasn’t all he showed off, though, making a highlight-reel glove save on Daniel Alfredsson in the third period to help protect what was then a 2-1 B’s lead.

See highlights of that game in the video below.
