There’s always that one player who becomes a media nightmare during Super Bowl week, and this year 49ers cornerback Chris Culliver has taken on that role.

Earlier this week Culliver said that a gay player would not be welcome in the San Francisco locker room. On Thursday, Culliver apologized to the media for his anti-gay comments.

But it doesn’t end just yet. ESPN’s Dan Graziano went and asked several members of the Baltimore Ravens what they thought of Culliver’s comments.

“You can’t fight hate with hate,” Ravens linebacker Brandon Ayanbadejo said. “You’ve got to fight hate with love.”

Ayanbadejo made headlines earlier this season when he spoke out in support of a gay marriage initiative in Maryland. Ravens All-Pro defensive tackle Haloti Ngata also expressed his opinion on the situation.

“If a player is what he says he is then power to him,” said Ngata. “We don’t have a choice to tell them what they can or can’t be, I don’t have a problem with it.”
