Miami Heat v New York KnicksWhy can’t we be friends, eh?

When Carmelo Anthony decided to wait at the Celtics’ team bus for Kevin Garnett after the two got into a couple verbal scuffles during Monday night’s 102-96 Boston victory over the Knicks, most probably assumed there was something at least slightly nefarious at work. Well, according to an ESPN report, the way Anthony tells it, he just wanted to have a “one-on-one conversation” with Garnett so they could “talk it out like two grown men.”

“I wanted to talk to KG,” Anthony told ESPN on Tuesday after Knicks practice. “I think it was something that we both needed to get off our chests and see what really was the problem. It wasn’t no altercations, it was just some words and [a] conversation that we needed to have.”

Garnett’s response was decidedly less diplomatic, with the ornery Celtic telling Anthony “it’s not worth wasting my money on you.” However, that retort certainly implies that Garnett was expecting a fight or some kind of altercation with Anthony.

Garnett refused to speak to the media after Celtics practice on Tuesday.
