Deion Branch Says ‘That’s Not the Way a True Champion Talks’ in Response to Terrell Suggs’ Comments

Deion BranchFOXBORO, Mass — After the Ravens beat the Patriots, Terrell Suggs had some choice words for New England’s players.

The Ravens’ defensive end called the Patriots “arrogant [expletives]” and even brought up Spygate as the reason the team hasn’t won a Super Bowl since 2004. Deion Branch didn’t seem to appreciate the name calling from Suggs, and had some choice words himself.

“Champions carry themselves a little differently. I think if you go and talk to Ray [Lewis] it would be different. You’re hearing it from some other guys,” said Branch. “Those guys aren’t champions. That’s not the way a true champion talks, regardless of win or lose. It just don’t work that way. But, you know, congratulations to the Ravens.”

Of course, Suggs could very well be a champion if the Ravens can go down to New Orleans and beat the 49ers. Maybe after winning the ring he’s pined for since he came into the league from Arizona State in 2003, he’ll talk a little differently after big wins as Branch suggests.

After Suggs had calmed down a little bit after the win, he did slightly change his tune on the Patriots and Tom Brady.

“They have the right to be [arrogant],” said Suggs. “You have three titles and [five] appearances, with 12 [Brady] under center, they have the right to be. We respect them. That is it, even enemies can show respect.”

Even though Branch, Suggs and Brady are all getting into the twilights of their careers, this rivalry is far from over. The Patriots will likely remember being called arrogant when these teams face each other next.
