Domino’s Pizza Expects to Sell More Than 11 Million Slices, 2.5 Million Wings for Super Bowl

Super Bowl FootballSuper Bowl Sunday is a big day to prepare for — and not just the players on the field.

“Every night in a Domino’s store is a dress rehearsal for big days like Sunday,” said Chris Brandon, Domino’s Pizza spokesperson. “There are few occasions better than this one for us to deliver pizza, wings and other Domino’s favorites to gatherings across the nation — and our team is certainly prepared and ready to deliver a great game day meal to millions on Sunday.”

That’s right, in addition to all the preparation that goes into the game for players, the pizza guys are going to have to be on their game, as well. All in all, the pizza franchise expects to deliver 11 million slices and 2.5 million chicken wings on Sunday — an 80 percent increase from a typical Sunday. So, keep that in mind when you’re deciding how much to tip your disheveled-looking deliveryman.

However, the pure volume of pizza isn’t the only impressive food fact courtesy of the pizza company. On Sunday, drivers will cover enough ground to make 300 round trips between San Francisco and Baltimore. During last year’s game, Domino’s sold enough pizzas to stretch across more than 5,000 football fields. Also, for some reason, the winning team’s city always buys more pizza than the loser’s — which of course runs completely contrary to the idea of “comfort food.”

Just some random facts to keep in mind while you’re downing some slices during the big game.
