Kobe Bryant Joins Twitter With Verified Account, Uses Bizarre Snake-Tongued ‘Black Mamba’ Bird as Avatar (Photo)

Kobe Bryant is plunging into the world of social media after joining Twitter.

The aptly named @KobeBryant account posted its first message a little after noon ET on Friday, sparking off a firestorm of tweets welcoming the Lakers guard to the social network. While fake Bryant accounts have temporarily fooled the Internet in the past, this new account is verified.

The strangest part — or the best, depending on your point of view — might be the “Black Mamba”-style Twitter bird that Kobe has for his avatar. Check it out in the photo below.
