LeBron JamesIt’s always a bummer when a sports fan has to miss a great game to go to work instead. But be consoled, everyday folks, that the scheduling conflicts sometimes happen to people with much higher-paying jobs, too.

LeBron James, of all people, is going to miss the Super Bowl this Sunday, and he’s not happy.

“How disgusting is that?” he said Wednesday, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Here’s the catch: James won’t have to miss the game because he’s playing for the Heat, which would be understandable. He’ll actually be flying when the 49ers and Ravens get at it, and the uber-rich Miami Heat apparently do not have wi-fi or satellite TV on their team plane.

The Heat have to hop on the plane as quickly as possible after they play Toronto so they can make the turnaround to play Charlotte on Monday.

James has apparently considered skipping the flight to catch the Super Bowl instead, and he admits there’s one thing that would have made such an act of insubordination happen — if his favorite team, Dallas, was playing.

“If the Cowboys were in the Super Bowl, I’d stay there for the game,” he said, even shrugging off a question of whether he would do that if it would jeopardize his chances of getting back for the next game he had to play. “Are you crazy? I would never leave.”

Maybe James can tape the Super Bowl and watch it when he gets home.
