Mark Wahlberg Wouldn’t Care If Falcons Beat Patriots Because He Claims Matt Ryan Is a ‘Boston Boy’

Matt Ryan is a native of Pennsylvania, who just so happened to decide that he would play football at Boston College. That’s not stopping actor Mark Wahlberg — who actually is from Boston — to think the Atlanta Falcons quarterback is one of his own.

Deadspin points out that the actor created a video for members of the Atlanta Falcons, wishing them luck in this weekend’s NFC divisional playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Wahlberg, whose Boston roots and movies set in Boston may indicate he’d be a Boston sports fan, goes off the rails a little bit there.

He goes on to say that he’d even root for the Falcons to beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl.

His reasoning, he says, is that Ryan is a “Boston boy.” Like we said, though, Ryan is a Pennsylvania native, whose only ties to Boston is that he played football on Chestnut Hill.

Perhaps Wahlberg is being held hostage by that man in the Falcons jersey in the background who just sits and watches as Wahlberg addresses the camera.
