Nationals Owner Mark Lerner Declares ‘We’re Going to the World Series This Year’ at Season Ticket Holder Event

Nationals owner Mark Lerner thinks his team is ready to take the next step in 2013, and he didn’t hide his excitement while speaking at a season ticket holder event over the weekend.

“We’re going to the World Series this year,” Lerner said.

Lerner surely isn’t the only one who feels that way, as the Nationals have one of the most talented rosters in all of baseball and look poised to improve upon what was an impressive 2012 regular season. In fact, it’d be even more alarming if Lerner didn’t think his team was going to the World Series, especially since that should be every owner’s hope year in and year out.

Still, sports fans love guarantees, if for no other reason than they can be used as ammunition against the confident party should the team not live up to expectations.
