If playing America’s national pastime at Great American Ball Park in the middle of the summer doesn’t scream U.S. patriotism, then what does, really?
According to John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer, the 2015 MLB All-Star Game will be played in Cincinnati, marking the first time the city will host the event since 1988.
This will be the fifth All-Star Game played in Cincinnati and the first at Great American Ball Park, which became the home of the Reds in 2003. The last Cincy-hosted All-Star Game in 1988 was played at Riverfront Stadium, and the American League pulled out a 2-1 victory in that contest.
No official announcement regarding the decision has been made, but Fay reports that commissioner Bud Selig is scheduled to make the announcement when he is in Cincinnati on Wednesday.
With Cincinnati hosting the 2015 game, the next three years are now mapped out, as this year’s contest will be played at the Mets’ Citi Field in New York, and the 2014 event will be hosted at the Minnesota Twins’ Target Field.
