Andy ReidNot only is Andy Reid not yet the Arizona Cardinals’ new head coach, but he’s reportedly interviewing with the Kansas City Chiefs.

According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen (via Adam Schefter), Reid will interview with the Chiefs in Philadelphia on Wednesday before traveling to Arizona to interview with the Cardinals.

Speculation was rampant Tuesday that Reid is expected to become Arizona’s next head coach. Cardinals vice president of media relations Mark Dalton denied that a deal is in place, though, tweeting, “I’m 99 percent sure that reports of a deal being 95 percent done are 100 percent incorrect.”

Still, there are many who think Reid, who reportedly is expected to tell the Cardinals that he can “fix” quarterback Kevin Kolb, will eventually end up in the desert. That’s what makes the news regarding the Chiefs so surprising.

Reid spent 14 seasons as Philadelphia’s head coach before the Eagles fired him Monday. He was the longest-tenured coach in the NFL and took the Eagles to five NFC Championship games and one Super Bowl appearance while amassing a 130-93-1 career regular-season record. Philly failed to live up to expectations the past two seasons, though, which paved the way for Reid’s dismissal.

The Cardinals’ coaching vacancy comes on the heels of the team firing Ken Whisenhunt, while the Chiefs have an opening after getting rid of Romeo Crennel.
