The Brooklyn Nets will play the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night, but they will be doing so with a black cloud hanging over the proceedings.

One Nets players is being investigated by Philadelphia police in connection with a sexual assault case that allegedly happened inside an area hotel, according to CBS Philly and other outlets. According to the New York Daily News, that player, since named, is forward Andray Blatche.

The report states that a 21-year-old female told police that she was sexually assaulted inside the Four Seasons Hotel at about 4 a.m. early Tuesday morning.

Blatche and his “associates” were then taken in for questioning by the Philadelphia SVU unit, according to the report, but investigators are waiting to interview the woman further before pressing charges. It’s also not clear if Blatche is being accused of committing the sexual assault himself.

In a tweet, Blatche stated that he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Nets general manager Billy King said in a statement, “We are aware of the ongoing police investigation regarding a member of the Brooklyn Nets. We will have no further comment until the investigation has concluded. All of our players are available for tonight’s game.”

Still, it’s safe to say that this is not a situation that the Nets and interim coach P.J. Carlesimo need right now in what has already been a tumultuous season.
